What to wear: at the races

This post comes because next Saturday I will be attending the Ladies Race Day in my home town Newbury. So, of course with just a week to go, the big question 'What do I wear?' has come to mind.

Newbury races is a funny one. It is a lot more casual than what you see and hear about Ascot, you can count the number of hats and fascinators you'll see on one hand. There are no rules on skirt lengths and dress straps. What people tend to wear is simular to a night out or a wedding - a standard dress and heels kinda thing.

I am unfortunately to poor to buy anything new for this occasion, but here are a few dresses I have put together for your inspiration.

This post has made me really excited now. Unlike normal race events, Newbury races have a tradition of ending the day's event with a music concert. The year before last, I took my little sister to see Jessie J, my boyfriend, brother and his girl friend saw Rita Ora last year and this Saturday its a night of music with Pete Tong and Annie Mac from Radio 1.

Watch this space to see my post of the day it's self and what I wore.

SHOP FOR THE WEATHER

So just now I was shopping as normal on TOPSHOP when I noticed in the top right hand corner the website was telling me the weather.

Being a 'fashion' site, I did double take and think "why is Topshop telling me what the weather is?" I then saw it said 'SHOP FOR OVERCAST' clicking the link the site took me a brand new page with fashion ideas for the overcast weather.

I thought this was genius! Not only does it give great shopping advice, but even better I thought was the new styling advice I was being given - now when I don't know what to wear because of the weather I can just ask Topshop to tell me, and I can then interrupt it's suggestions with the pieces I already have in my wardrobe - great for those early mornings when my brain has quite switched on!

thanks Topshop!

Check Mate

So, it's official According to the fashion a retail worlds, Summer is officially over and it's time for the AW13 trends. Of course though, because of the recent heatwave we have been experiencing shops are desperate trying to keep their news AW13 trends as light as possible, holding on to short sleeves, light colours and fabrics. Even desperately designing new pieces and putting them straight to production; to take advantage of the crazy long lasting Summer. Irony is though its AUGUST!! It's suppose to be warm! Retail moves so quickly that the pushing the new seasons on us faster than the changing weather.

So now, all the new trends oooze mixed pieces that you can wear now and sooo incredibly easily wear though winter too. Continuing with the 90's rival, AW13 is seeing the return of grunge, Tartan and Checks. Yay!! My second favourite print! Cleverly alot of store are introducing them in light bright colours to suit the current climate, but chuck on a pair of Doc Martens and opaque tights, you've got your AW sussed.

Topshop has the best choices of tartan/check right now, but other stores are slowly introducing them too. Wait until we are fully in season, and you'll be sick of the print I'm sure.

These are my picks from TOPSHOP that are all available to buy now instore and online:
Mac Coat £85, Scarf £18, Dungeree Dress was £48 now £15 in sale, Embroided Check Blouse £29, Daisy Check Dress £28, Red Tartan Top £30, Denim Check Skirt £34, Red Check Shirt £28, Plaid Shoes £24, Pink Tartan Midi Skirt £48.

I really, really want the Red Top, but it seems soooo over priced for a simple tee. I'm falling for the pink skirt too, which I think I gunna have to order online soon too.

Best of the rest:

L-R Grey oversize shirt - Miss Selfridge £25, Tartan Rucksack - ASOS £25, Dip Dyed Check Shirt - River Island £25, Black Peter Pan Collar Top - Miss Selfridge £32, Maxi Pinafore Dress - River Island £35, Dungerees - New Look £24.99, Tartan Tube Pants - River Island £35, Black and White Dress -New Look £17.99, Skater Shirt - New Look £7.99.

So from this list I WILL be buying the River Island Maxi Dress and New Look's skater skirt. I think the tube pants are amazing, but I simply don't have the figure to pull it off. Alternatively Miss Selfridge have two simular skater skirts and a lush co-ord top!! See it all here!!

I am a complete sucker for tartan, so I'm really excited for these new looks. Is there a AW trend that your excited about?

HAUL - what do you want see styled?

So this is the all post I promised you all the other day. It has taken me so long to do because I wanted to VLOG it but my camera (ok, I admit it my hair too) just weren't playing game. I managed to snap these photo's quick yesterday afternoon, while the sun put it hat on for a few hours. I'll try to do the video again today, because I really want to join the VLOG world. Anyways.... these are all pieces I have brought over the last 2 months in Topshop, River Island, TKMaxx, charity shops and Peacocks.

*Please note I really want to do some styling posts for the things I brought, I'd really appreciate your comments below stating what pieces you would like to see styled :)*

Here we go :) :

denim love

I have been obsessed with denim since I was 6 years old and my best friend and I had matching Red denim jackets. 12 years later, (and I still have the red denim jacket) my obsession with the hard wearing blue material became apparent when shopping with friends "Your obsessed with denim!! Oh my god, stop buying it!" exclaimed my best girl Meg, after I brought a denim jumpsuit, skirt, shirt and jacket in the space of 5 days (we were on holiday, I don't actually shop everyday - well I do, but....). It has also come apparent to myself when I've spent the last 2 months looking for a new pair of jeans - who spends that long looking for jeans! Anyways, I finally found them in Topshop - I tried 8 pairs of blue jeans on, but couldn't decide on any of them. so I walked out the changing room,  walked straight into a pair of kahki coloured jeans and brought them straight away on impulse without trying them on - they are now my favourite pairs of jeans

COPY CAT

Just like everyone else in the world I have fallen head over Cuban heeled in love with Jeffery Cambell Shoes, and the ones that have particularly taken my heart are the coltrane cutout boots. And also the similar styled Roscoe boots.

I saw them on another blog, and fell in love. At first I couldn't justify the £140 price tag, but after thinking about it I knew I'd get my wear out of them, they would be completely worth it, last close to forever and will go with absolutely everything in my wardrobe.

I'd also wanted a pair for black flat boots for ages too. Something sensible, can wear to work and walk to work in, and would go with trousers, jeans, skirts and dresses. - Can you tell how much i thought and convinced myself these were worth while buying!! hahaa!

Like 99% of JC shoes, they are close to impossible to buy in the UK. Office do sell them but always sell out really quick. So I was spending litarly hours trying find these shoes in my size (size 8 feet, if the task wasn't differcult enough!) in the UK, so i could avoid any tax/customs fees if brought from the US. Also, as of yet, these seem to be the only Jeffery's that haven't been copied by cheap branded shops. If i wanted fake lita's they would be easy!

Finally a pair turned up on ebay! My size pretty and much brand new! But i got scared, and spent 2 days trying to justify the £130 price tag again. But finally I did -again, when to place my bid, and the shoes and gone!!! Someone possessed as much as I am managed to get in before me and became the happy owner of JC's.

Im not going to lie the next couple of days I did spend slightly mourning the loss of these amazing shoes.

However!!! The lord of mighy upstairs was listening to my prayers, and when checking out the 'New In' page on the Topshop website I found these amazing copy cats!!!!

Not cheap, they were £95, but considering was now happy to pay the £140 for the real things, £95 seamed like bargain to me. And can I just say, I have never been happier with a pair of shoes!! I've worn pretty much every day since buying them, they are so comfy easy to style and are just plain beautiful!

Happy Happy Hanna! hahah!

Do check out Topshop's website, they have lots 'cut out' style boots in various styles. I did do a 'shoe unboxing' vlog for these but it was an epic fail! hahah! maybe next time!

Have you found any bargins this January?

Got a problem?

there such thing as a shopping rehab?  if so i think i might need to go.
what was going to start as a post for 2 new items on wednesday, I have now up-ed it to 14!! And thats not even it! I also squeezed in some internet buys that haven't arrived yet!

I've felt really inspired this week, and instead of lashing out my creativity on a canvas, which I used to do, I now splash it all over my wallet and wardrobe. DUMB is the word you are looking for!

I will probably be taking some of these back, as I cant really afford it all and Im sure my boyfriend would quite like a birthday present this month instead of seeing me in a new pair of shoes.

But regardless I'll talk you through what I have brought! Today I went for a detour in the new shopping centre on the way to and FROM work (seriously what is wrong with me!) This morning In New Look i brought these bright red espadrille's; I didn't want a pair at all but then saw a girl yesterday wearing a red pair like this and i was like 'I want those!' so had to have them. Also from New Look were these absolutely amazing blue wedges!!!! Aren't they just amazing! I wanted them in black months ago, but being good I was waiting till payday arrived, it did finally and they rang out of my size! even online too (i checked) so I took it as a sign, that it just wasn't meant to be. And I sign it was because they now come in this amazing electric blue!

Everywhere is having a HUGE HUGE sale right now, and I also brought from New Look in the sale this lime green vest for just £2 and oversized crop lace jumper for £6. the jumper is actually size 16, but I always try different sizes on when buying because sometimes over sizes just look better. This jumper is now a great slouchy oversized look. Also I could help myself and brought this camoflage tank top for £9.99.

TOPSHOP. my 'walking home' spree, I found these shorts for just £10 in the sale, but Im not convinced on the colour now they are home and will probably take them back.I also picked some cool jewellery in the sale for 1/2 price. Lastly in top shop I brought 2 crop vest in olive green and petrol grey. Something else i've had my eye on for a while and they were on other 2 for £10. BARGIN.
