DAY IN THE LIFE: London Visit

This Saturday I spent the day in London with my lovely friend Michelle (who travelled down from Sunderland may I add) to visit the Andy Warhol’s Muse by David McCabe exhibition at Proud Camden. Of course that was just a small part of the day, we also did a small amount of retail therapy on Oxford St and within the Camden markets.

Check Mate

So, it's official According to the fashion a retail worlds, Summer is officially over and it's time for the AW13 trends. Of course though, because of the recent heatwave we have been experiencing shops are desperate trying to keep their news AW13 trends as light as possible, holding on to short sleeves, light colours and fabrics. Even desperately designing new pieces and putting them straight to production; to take advantage of the crazy long lasting Summer. Irony is though its AUGUST!! It's suppose to be warm! Retail moves so quickly that the pushing the new seasons on us faster than the changing weather.

So now, all the new trends oooze mixed pieces that you can wear now and sooo incredibly easily wear though winter too. Continuing with the 90's rival, AW13 is seeing the return of grunge, Tartan and Checks. Yay!! My second favourite print! Cleverly alot of store are introducing them in light bright colours to suit the current climate, but chuck on a pair of Doc Martens and opaque tights, you've got your AW sussed.

Topshop has the best choices of tartan/check right now, but other stores are slowly introducing them too. Wait until we are fully in season, and you'll be sick of the print I'm sure.

These are my picks from TOPSHOP that are all available to buy now instore and online:
Mac Coat £85, Scarf £18, Dungeree Dress was £48 now £15 in sale, Embroided Check Blouse £29, Daisy Check Dress £28, Red Tartan Top £30, Denim Check Skirt £34, Red Check Shirt £28, Plaid Shoes £24, Pink Tartan Midi Skirt £48.

I really, really want the Red Top, but it seems soooo over priced for a simple tee. I'm falling for the pink skirt too, which I think I gunna have to order online soon too.

Best of the rest:

L-R Grey oversize shirt - Miss Selfridge £25, Tartan Rucksack - ASOS £25, Dip Dyed Check Shirt - River Island £25, Black Peter Pan Collar Top - Miss Selfridge £32, Maxi Pinafore Dress - River Island £35, Dungerees - New Look £24.99, Tartan Tube Pants - River Island £35, Black and White Dress -New Look £17.99, Skater Shirt - New Look £7.99.

So from this list I WILL be buying the River Island Maxi Dress and New Look's skater skirt. I think the tube pants are amazing, but I simply don't have the figure to pull it off. Alternatively Miss Selfridge have two simular skater skirts and a lush co-ord top!! See it all here!!

I am a complete sucker for tartan, so I'm really excited for these new looks. Is there a AW trend that your excited about?

Anyways.... these are all pieces I have brought over the last 2 months in Topshop, River Island, TKMaxx, charity shops and Peacocks.

*Please note I really want to do some styling posts for the things I brought, I'd really appreciate your comments below stating what pieces you would like to see styled :)*

I can see right through your blind eyes

So my evening began last night with an atempt to do a 'h&M haul' post, Each month there is a different shop that takes all of my wages. This month was H&M. So i gathered all my new purchases nicely on the floor. Getting arty and creative with my display, but my kitten Dorothy, just saw it all as new playground. She trashed my hard work and continued to play catch with my new necklace and ring! She was sooo cute I had to take some photo's (WARNING **** multiple cat photos below)

SPLURGE

So since I got back from the Isle of Greece - 2 days ago I have gone a semi splurge in sales. It was fun to come back and see that everywhere has gone sale mad and with huge discounts! many up to 50% off!

On route this morning I stopped in River Island and New Look and got these great peices:

Leopard print pencil skirt £, Blue scarf print trousers £10, polka dot crop vest £10, Pink leopard print dress £15, aztec belt £5 all river island. And leopard print palazzo trousers £6!

I'm so happy with these! I wanted them all when they were full price but just wasn't rich enough to buy them. Im still not! But as my dad said 'you only live once'. The palazzo trousers was an amazing find! before holiday I was searching high and low for them everywhere - couldnt find them! I was hoping to get an amazing pair oof wedge shoes from New Look but they didnt have my size :( GUTTED. they did before I went away, which so much I brought them then. Luckily we have TWO New Look stores in town so I will give the other store a try this weekend, otherwise Im gunna have to hope they are online.

While Away I brought this amazing leopard print jumpsuit - just €26!!! bargin! Cant wait to pair it with a denmin shirt tied up at the front. and some flatform sandles to dress it down.

I couldnt help myself and brought 2 books in Sainsburys (such bargins)! and New issue of ELLE, which comes with a 'runway edit' supplement and a free ST Tropez tinted moisturizer.  While away it was my mother's birthday, one of her friends brought her some badges as a 'joke' present and my mom has given them to me. I love there quotes and will definitely feature in some outfit posts soon.

Though I cant afford to shop and have spent loads of money this week, it hasnt stopped me from searching every high street shop website to see whats new in. My shopping list is huge! why am I not a millionaress yet?

TOP'S OFF

It has come to my realization, that the reason I take so long to decide what to wear each day; is because I have NO tops.

Obviously I do have a few tops, but all of my tops are t-shirts - band shirts, slogan tee's, plain t-shirts etc. but that is it. When shopping I always buy dresses, skirts and trousers, but NEVER tops. This is why I am USELESS at deciding what to wear - because I have nothing to wear (with my trousers/ skirts/ leggings/etc)!

So, now I have made this recent discovery, in the last week my fingers, eye's and Cath kidston purse have been glued to my laptop and world of internet shopping. I've made rules to myself that from now on I am only allowed to buy tops, unless it is a dress/skirt/trousers that I really really can not live without. And also when buying a top, I must think about what multiple things I can wear with it.

Of course a few things have slipped through the net, but this is what I brought in the last week from surfing the net....

Black crop vest, aztek printed leggings, leopard print crop bustier - all river Island. Black long sleeve bardot top - ASOS.

Neon pink dress, grey dress - H&M floral bardot top, white bardot top, white bardot dress - Miss Selfridge Neon pink top, earings, belt - H&M

I also ordered another blouse from Dorothy Perkins today, I had too, they had 20% today only. (though the postage fee, pretty much added it back on) But I'm stuggling still! these tops I've new brought are great, but I need more :) hahaha! I still dont have tops to match so many more of clothes! The reason I've not brought tops before is because I'm really fussy about them so struggle to find something I like.

I have now too fallen for a pair for peg leg leopard print trousers in my mom's catalogue. Just £35 issue is though they are Neon and..... I have nothing to wear with them :) hahahaa! So more shopping again!! I need a wardrobe just for tops!

Do you have any wardrobe issues like me? Have any rules on shopping? I wanna hear about your shopping tales too!!

Also, know anywhere to buy nice tops from??

Monday, 27 February 2012

So i am back from Newcastle. 5 hours, broken back, sour eyes, and a very powerded nose later i am back :)
i actually returned last night, around half 10 though sitting on a train doesn't use much engery it is damn tiring. So i went straight to bed and left it till this evening to write up about my trip.

Newcastle is cool. I was slightly nervous on the way being a southern fairy; at doncaster a women got on train sat across the elise from me and made a phone call. I listened in, but not rudely becuase i could not understand a word she said. She spoke so fast and her accent was so strong, i did begin to worry if i would be able to understand anyone and would i myself stick out like a saw thumb with my monotone accent? haha but it was fine, i understood everyone and they understood me (or so i think!).
We went shopping in Newcastle centre, i was concious that i had no space in my bag it fit more clothes, and i didnt want to turn into a bucaroo donkey, so the only things i brought was a ring and 2012 diary.

ring (on my 'ring' finger) £6 from river island and the diary was half price £4.50 at paperchase. i always wait to buy diarys until we are into the new year, you get them so much cheaper then.

While shopping i noticed there was a lots different styles wondering the streets of Newcastle. Bright red dyed hair and shorts with tights were definately the dominate looks in the city. Though we did spot a girl in primark who was perfect 'Snog, Married, Avoid' material. Just shopping she was wearing pink flash eye lashses, stelitto heels, bleached hair, orange skin and black hands. She was in her element and though her style wasnt my taste i admired her confidence and dedication to her image. There was also supposedly a vintage fair being held at the Newcastle Uni. Michelle and I went, but couldn't find it anywhere! Aimlessly we walked around trying to find it, but failed mesribly! so we went back to Michelle's house for gossip, wine, lots of junk food, magaiznes and dress up.

These are pictures for the rest of the weekend. my favourite is me in the pink wig found in a corner of Michelle's room :)

This was my 'enterianment' pacakge for the train. I started and read all of them accross the weekend.
I also got my christmas presents from Michelle. We both collect stuff over the year to give each other so when we give them it becomes a cool little package :) this is what i got from the lovely Michelle.

So for my lack of spending over the weekend, i made up for it today in my lunch break :) I visited, Topshop, Boots, H&M, New Look, River Island and paperchase! I'm so excited for summer and really wanted to get some summer pieces, i also needed a new skirt for work because i broke the zip on my last one a couple of weeks ago.
This is what a brought -
black high waisted skirt and baseball t-shirt bith H&M

Black tube skirt from River Island
pink crop top also from river island

turqoise crop top from New Look.

I needed new eyeliner too, so i thought i would try the new gel liner that is everywhere, and brought this Maybeline lasting drama gel eye liner.

It comes with a brush and is really easy to create and accurate line or a smokey edge.
I tested it on my eyes this evening. I switched the photo's to black and white beacuse the lighting is bad in my bedroom and it shows the make up better.

MAKE UP DOLL

good evening everyone!

i went on a slight make up splurge today. I mentioned yesterday that i was getting inspired by the beauty blogs i keep reading, and today i just couldn't help myself; so i ran in to town this lunch break to treat myself :)

i really wanted to get some make up from topshop, their products look good and they always recieve great write ups and reviews. It wasn't until i got to our local Topshop today that i discovered our Topshop doesnt sell the make up range! only nail polishes and i have enough of those, so i ran in to boots instead.

this is what i brought. Garnier dark eye roll on (in medium) £10.20; Rimmel match perfection compat powder (soft beige) £5.99; No 7 photo flawness skin primer £4.99; Collection 2000 extreme felt eye liner (purple) £2.99; Collection 2000 last colour nail polish (ice cube); Rimmel 60 seconds nail polish (pompous) £3.99; and from H&M i brought smokey eye pencil £2.99 and Eyeshadow pallet £5.99

i wanted to go to debenhams to completely splurge on some Benifit make up but i ran out of time and had to go bak to work. But to be fair i probably brought enough make up, and if i was in debenhams i would only be tempted to splash out and buy some MAC cosmetics too.

the whole reaso for all this is because i am bored of my current to to day look. Also i think it is good to change products now and then, so you don't get stuck in a routine and buy the same things all the time. Im really pleased with the Rimmel Foundation, it matches my skin olour exactly. testing it on my hand in the shop i thought there was some wrong! it was till tested a different shade that i realised, the reason i couldnt see it on my hand was because it was the exact colour! AMAZING! also i really excited about the primer. i had no idea this product existed until reading other blogs! i have olive skin so the area around my eyes is really dark and can make me look like a drug addict on bad days! but with this primer those days will be gone! haha i am like a 6 year old children playing with her mothers make up for the first time and stumbled across a whole new world!

These are the products i normally use day to day -

its pretty dull. Today i got ready for work in records time, 40 mins. And in that 40 mins, i washed/dried/styled my hair, put on a fae mask, got dressed for work, ate my breakfast, drunk 2 cups of tea and fixed my face.
the reason i could get ready so quik was because i turned into a robot in the mornings and everything is just on auto pilot. My make up takes 5-10 mins depending on how big the bags are under my eyes. i read on one blog (i cant remember which!) that the blogger takes up to an hour everyday to just do her make up. which got me thinking if i spend more time on it then i will naturally want to expiriment more.

So with my old products, this is my every day look

excuse the lighting, my room is so shit for lighting i have to pluck my eyebrows at the boyfriends house because i just cant find the light at home. I'll post a photo tomorrow of my new face in my new make up!!

Also today, i brought 2 dresses from H&M, i haven't photographed them becuase they are both just plain bodycon dresses one black the other navy. they are going to be my new (what i like to call) 'petticoats' dresses to wear under other items to add layers to my look but also to keep me warm in these recent cold days. I also got a new jumper from New Look, i brought a cardigan in the sale last week but changed my mind about it. And because it was in the sale i could only exchange, so i got this cool neon aztec print jumper.

and lastly for today, my leopard print item was...... red leopard print earings!
