90's Make up trend - the dark lips

So who remember's this trend? I remember as a child finding it really intimidating, and I can't say it's ever a trend i've loved. I always thought it looked like a moustache you get from drinking milk or a beer and no one has been kind enough to tell you, you need to wipe your face.

But following the 90's fashion and make-up rival, I did wonder when this trend would surface  It seems that every other trend - grunge, rave, minimalist etc has been earthed, why not this one?

Well today has seen the day, when Jesy from girl band Little Mix stepped out into the world wearing dark lip liner.

Bargin Make up/ Jewellery Haul

I'd run out of liquid eyeliner, so one lunch time I sneaked in to Superdrug to buy some more. As always though I got discrated by all the pretty colours and new products in the make-up isle. I had been using Rimmel's liguid eyeliner, but I always like to test new products and discover something new.
Something I also wanted to get was bronzer. It is something I have never had in my make up box before (yep shock horror!) but my friends all use it and it's always in  the magazines. Plus my boyfriend always moans at me that my foundation makes me look pale, So i'd thought I'll give it a try.

LIPSTICK RUIN

The previous recession saw increases in lipstick sales sore. This recession it has been the turn of the nail varnish. I admit myslef have been diving into purchases for both when the feeling is low. Yesterday I had the exact feeling so I took it apon myself ANOTHER Kate Moss for rimmel lipstick.

they only thing i suck is my lipstick

I got distracted in the make up isle of  superdrug on my lunch break today.

it was 3 for 2 on Rimmel, so i just couldn't say no! I have been in love with the Kate Moss collection of Lipsticks since they came out, and have slowly treated myself to one every so often. today i brought 2, plus a lip tint pen.

the liptint pen is shade 110 'stay very berry', the pink lipstick is shade 02 and the orange is 12.

I have a strange love for orange lipstick. every since watching Audrey Hepburn but a shade on in Breakfast at Tiffany's before she leave's her empty apartment. I now own 3 or 4 of them; none of make me as beautiful as her though......

So i am back from Newcastle. 5 hours, broken back, sour eyes, and a very powerded nose later i am back :)
i actually returned last night, around half 10 though sitting on a train doesn't use much engery it is damn tiring. So i went straight to bed and left it till this evening to write up about my trip.

Newcastle is cool. I was slightly nervous on the way being a southern fairy; at doncaster a women got on train sat across the elise from me and made a phone call. I listened in, but not rudely becuase i could not understand a word she said. She spoke so fast and her accent was so strong, i did begin to worry if i would be able to understand anyone and would i myself stick out like a saw thumb with my monotone accent? haha but it was fine, i understood everyone and they understood me (or so i think!).
We went shopping in Newcastle centre, i was concious that i had no space in my bag it fit more clothes, and i didnt want to turn into a bucaroo donkey, so the only things i brought was a ring and 2012 diary.

ring (on my 'ring' finger) £6 from river island and the diary was half price £4.50 at paperchase. i always wait to buy diarys until we are into the new year, you get them so much cheaper then.

While shopping i noticed there was a lots different styles wondering the streets of Newcastle. Bright red dyed hair and shorts with tights were definately the dominate looks in the city. Though we did spot a girl in primark who was perfect 'Snog, Married, Avoid' material. Just shopping she was wearing pink flash eye lashses, stelitto heels, bleached hair, orange skin and black hands. She was in her element and though her style wasnt my taste i admired her confidence and dedication to her image. There was also supposedly a vintage fair being held at the Newcastle Uni. Michelle and I went, but couldn't find it anywhere! Aimlessly we walked around trying to find it, but failed mesribly! so we went back to Michelle's house for gossip, wine, lots of junk food, magaiznes and dress up.

These are pictures for the rest of the weekend. my favourite is me in the pink wig found in a corner of Michelle's room :)

This was my 'enterianment' pacakge for the train. I started and read all of them accross the weekend.
I also got my christmas presents from Michelle. We both collect stuff over the year to give each other so when we give them it becomes a cool little package :) this is what i got from the lovely Michelle.

So for my lack of spending over the weekend, i made up for it today in my lunch break :) I visited, Topshop, Boots, H&M, New Look, River Island and paperchase! I'm so excited for summer and really wanted to get some summer pieces, i also needed a new skirt for work because i broke the zip on my last one a couple of weeks ago.
This is what a brought -
black high waisted skirt and baseball t-shirt bith H&M

Black tube skirt from River Island
pink crop top also from river island

turqoise crop top from New Look.

I needed new eyeliner too, so i thought i would try the new gel liner that is everywhere, and brought this Maybeline lasting drama gel eye liner.

It comes with a brush and is really easy to create and accurate line or a smokey edge.
I tested it on my eyes this evening. I switched the photo's to black and white beacuse the lighting is bad in my bedroom and it shows the make up better.

MAKE UP DOLL

good evening everyone!

i went on a slight make up splurge today. I mentioned yesterday that i was getting inspired by the beauty blogs i keep reading, and today i just couldn't help myself; so i ran in to town this lunch break to treat myself :)

i really wanted to get some make up from topshop, their products look good and they always recieve great write ups and reviews. It wasn't until i got to our local Topshop today that i discovered our Topshop doesnt sell the make up range! only nail polishes and i have enough of those, so i ran in to boots instead.

this is what i brought. Garnier dark eye roll on (in medium) £10.20; Rimmel match perfection compat powder (soft beige) £5.99; No 7 photo flawness skin primer £4.99; Collection 2000 extreme felt eye liner (purple) £2.99; Collection 2000 last colour nail polish (ice cube); Rimmel 60 seconds nail polish (pompous) £3.99; and from H&M i brought smokey eye pencil £2.99 and Eyeshadow pallet £5.99

i wanted to go to debenhams to completely splurge on some Benifit make up but i ran out of time and had to go bak to work. But to be fair i probably brought enough make up, and if i was in debenhams i would only be tempted to splash out and buy some MAC cosmetics too.

the whole reaso for all this is because i am bored of my current to to day look. Also i think it is good to change products now and then, so you don't get stuck in a routine and buy the same things all the time. Im really pleased with the Rimmel Foundation, it matches my skin olour exactly. testing it on my hand in the shop i thought there was some wrong! it was till tested a different shade that i realised, the reason i couldnt see it on my hand was because it was the exact colour! AMAZING! also i really excited about the primer. i had no idea this product existed until reading other blogs! i have olive skin so the area around my eyes is really dark and can make me look like a drug addict on bad days! but with this primer those days will be gone! haha i am like a 6 year old children playing with her mothers make up for the first time and stumbled across a whole new world!

These are the products i normally use day to day -

its pretty dull. Today i got ready for work in records time, 40 mins. And in that 40 mins, i washed/dried/styled my hair, put on a fae mask, got dressed for work, ate my breakfast, drunk 2 cups of tea and fixed my face.
the reason i could get ready so quik was because i turned into a robot in the mornings and everything is just on auto pilot. My make up takes 5-10 mins depending on how big the bags are under my eyes. i read on one blog (i cant remember which!) that the blogger takes up to an hour everyday to just do her make up. which got me thinking if i spend more time on it then i will naturally want to expiriment more.

So with my old products, this is my every day look

excuse the lighting, my room is so shit for lighting i have to pluck my eyebrows at the boyfriends house because i just cant find the light at home. I'll post a photo tomorrow of my new face in my new make up!!

Also today, i brought 2 dresses from H&M, i haven't photographed them becuase they are both just plain bodycon dresses one black the other navy. they are going to be my new (what i like to call) 'petticoats' dresses to wear under other items to add layers to my look but also to keep me warm in these recent cold days. I also got a new jumper from New Look, i brought a cardigan in the sale last week but changed my mind about it. And because it was in the sale i could only exchange, so i got this cool neon aztec print jumper.

and lastly for today, my leopard print item was...... red leopard print earings!

Tuesday, 7 February 2012

just a quick post tonight ladies and guys. i thought as it is coming to the end of my leopard print fashion challenge i would post photo's daily. hopefully this to will get me in the habbit to photograph daily looks  and get my LOOKBOOK running properly.
Today as pictured i wore a leopard print waist belt for work. i was orginally wearing it with my favourite black high waisted skirt but the zip broke just as i walking out the door! thank god it chose to go then! so i rushed back in and quickly switched for a tan pencil skirt (NEW LOOK).

i have been reading  lot of beauty blogs recently and it has got me inspired. im not normally a make up person. i mean i wear it everyday, and i love looking a photographs of make up especially really vibrant looks with lots if bright colour and glitter. But i generally dont wear these looks myself (unless a fancy party). if you have any beauty blogs to recomend please let  me know! i have olive skin and dark hair so would love to see a blog with a simular look, but i still love to see everyone elses!

so do you have a beauty blog to recomend?

boy about town

I haven’t been clothes shopping for months. Money is tight and I am trying to save for a deposit on a house. And if you are doing the same thing you will understand how difficult that is. Saying this however that all changed yesterday. My best friend called me at lunch wanting me to escort her to the retail park to buy a birthday present for someone. This went well, too well in fact; and I actually broke out my purse to buy some jewellery. I fell for this freedom from topshop neck lace just £5 with my initial. They also had the necklace in red and green, but blue is my favourite so it suited me to a T. I today though, have been itching  to go back and buy a ‘C’ for my boyfriends initial. Corny maybe but we have been together nearly 8 years and it’s better that getting a tattoo , so I think I can allow myself this corny romantic gesture.

I have a thing for these rope bracelets too, and found one in miss selfridge, with 4 beads ‘L.O.V.E.’ mine! but I didn’t stop there on walking out of the store we passed stand of Burton jewellery, and my eye’s light up like a firework when I found this religious bracelet. For some reason I brought I choose to get it in brown, they also had it in blue, red and white.
my camera wont pick the religous braclet very well but this is what it looks like online.

But I have been thinking of it all day and I want it in red to! So bored – lunch break at work I had a look on the Burton website. Not only did I discover that they have 30% of everything today but also I quite fancy some of the other men’s jewellery in my collection. I really like the star rings and cross earrings.
www.burton.co.uk    all under a fiver, the cross earrings do come in other clothes and as I said they have 30% off today so what you waiting for!!

My small shopping splurge didn’t stop there though. We went via tesco’s to get some cheap make up and got distracted by their, own F&F clothes. I have been  wanting an alternative to my ballet pumps for a while, they are ugly and because I have size 8 feet I look like a crap clown. And in tesco I succeeded and brought these patent black loafers, just £14!! £14 for a pair for shoes absolute bargain!

And that was the end of my shopping I spent £28 and brought four things! I know a bargain when I see them!

Next….

I am taking my Egyptian obsession to the next level. And I have made the session, this year’s Halloween costume is Queen Cleopatra! I am currently watching Elizabeth Taylor and Cleopatra which is true eye candy and idea’s and streaming in my head. I’m experimenting on make already too! This is going to be so much fun. I need to raid charity shops for the perfect dress!

Since my little excursion yesterday I have been a online window shopping whore today. And I have found the most beautiful dress in the most unusual place.

Yes that is Ferene Cotton and this £79 dress is from her latest collection for www.Very.com I admit I am not a Ferene Cotton fan, I don’t like her radio show and I don’t admire her style. But this dress is truly beautiful, but at £79 it is not something I can really buy for no reason. I did speak to my mom and suggested I could buy it as an investment, that in hope one day I will have a reason to wear it. But she told me that was stupid. ‘Investment’ I have never understood that word people use it in reference to clothes and fashion, who buys clothes as an investment?! Well it definitely won’t be me any time soon as £79 is too much for a ‘just in case’ dress.
